JYPE’s current status as a ‘Big 3′ company?

In life, there are things that are usually more popular than others. People, events and even trends. In the music industry, this happens quite often with idols and artists being more successful than others and their companies given the spotlight too. In K-Pop, I think it’s the opposite where most fans focus upon the label of where the idols came from. The Big 3 companies (SM, JYP and YG) are an example of this being the most popular music labels in Korea.

After reading this article, I’ve noticed JYPE in the last few years has been in the decline. It used to be my favourite label of idols but 2PM and Wonder Girls are the only groups I like. Even these groups are slowly becoming irrelevant and the fault is in JYP and the company. Home to creating stars such as Rain, Wonder Girls and g.o.d, it looks like JYP may lose its reputation as a Big 3 company to other competitors. Well, at least that’s the way I see it.

Best & Worst of 2011: End of Year Review

Are you all enjoying your last days of 2011? We have reached of another year 2011 has been in my opinion, a better year than 2010. However, there weren’t a lot of things to talk about 2011 that were good or bad, only a few.

Is the Korean music industry losing its creativity?

Music around the world in the eyes of many critics, fans and people working in the industry see a change in the creativity of music. The Korean music industry seems to be no different. A while ago, allkpop made a post about “Is the Korean music industry losing it’s creativity?”. In response to this, the writers at Candy Nine and earcandyexpress have made a second collab post together on this topic. Our first one was done for a review on SHINee’s Lucifer album.

Note: BUMP This and fangirltainment writers were going to participate but I was supposed this article out 3 months ago so I’m putting it out now.

Best & Worst of 2009: End of Year Review

WARNING: Even though these topics have bullet points on them, if you are lazy and do not want to read much, I suggest you skip to the Overall part and also answer the questions at the bottom. Thank you! ^_^

Looks like we have reached the end of an eventful year in J-Pop and especially, K-Pop. I would like to say, despite my lack of knowledge of the J-Pop World for 3 years, I can say the world of J-Pop and K-Pop seemed more calmer at the start of the year compared to the drama that later unfolding in the following months. Let’s recap what happened in the year of 2009 of J-Pop and K-Pop, from my standards and choices, of course.

Aren’t Global Auditions racist in a way?

WARNING: This is a serious article. I hope your feelings aren’t taken strongly about this. you will post in a mature way, rather than bash.

GA - SM, JYP, P

“Your nationality or your age does not matter”Amber, from f(x) to promote SM Global Audition

In a way Amber, it does.

Imagine it this way. A K-Pop fan who has pretty good vocal and dancing skills believes he/she has a big ambition to debut in South Korea. Whether it’s as a solo artist or in a group with other people, it does not matter. He/she has a high hope of passing the audition and training under the enertainment company they have selected. The problem? The person is not accepted because they are not Asian or do no look Asian at all.

It may seem harsh, but if you think of it this way, Enertainment Global Auditions seem to only target Asian people however there are slim chances of other races getting in to be trainees at enertainment companies for example, I remember someone uploaded a YouTube video of three SM trainees, one of the girls was Half-Black, Half-Japanese but she didn’t look Asian at all.

A copy of an SM audition information form proves my point.

SM/JYP/YG – Merging a group together?

Photobucket

Before you may get excited, yes. Above is a picture of JQT and B2ST. But that’s not the point.
And no. It’s not happening…at least I don’t think so. and I doubt those three would do so.
This is all for fun, people so please comment.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of thread posting here, obviously because we all have lives and are busy but I had thought of this idea for fun but, what if SM, JYP and YG created a group together consisting of one of the best trainees in each company for a member?

Of course, since we don’t know many of the trainees, I was wondering who people would put into a 3 member girl group and/or boy group of SM/JYP/YG artists. It’s just for fun for people to do and it doesn’t matter how many members are in there.
There’s:

SM - DBSK, Super Junior, CSJH, SNSD, SHINee, f(x)

JYP/Cube - Wonder Girls, 2PM, 2AM, 4minute, BEAST

YG - Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en

Anybody from the companies is fine. And make as many as you want. ^_^

For my choice, it would be:
Boy group – Taemin, Jaebeom, Taeyang.
Girl group - Sulli, Gayoon, Minzy.

Strange combination, I know but what are yours?
