Have you noticed that the performances of this year have changed? Could it have changed because of last year’s drama when the slave contract guidelines were exposed? Not just from one company, but all of them.
One thing’s for certain, I’m not thoroughly impressed with most of the comebacks and debuts except for miss A, Se7en, BoA and SHINee.
Have you noticed that performing title track songs have shortened to one month instead of two with the follow up song after? Take Super Junior and 2PM for example.
Last year, they each promoted Sorry, Sorry and Again & Again for two months then moved onto It’s You and I Hate You shortly after but I think after T-ara came out, changes were made.
Could it be that the companies are starting to shorten their promotions because they are finally trying to take better care of their artists and finally decided that artists shouldn’t promote for three months? Is it because songs are getting boring to listen to after the first month or have companies? Or is it to do with the amount of new groups debuting this year?
I think it is. I like miss A though. A lot of people on allkpop and K Bites say others complain too much about the amount of new groups debuting this year but if you compare, the amount of girl groups who have made a name for themselves is because they had all the attention for their name and probably well-rounded skills e.g. 4minute, T-ara, Secret, 2NE1 and weren’t overshadowed by other debuted groups.
After Secret and F.Cuz (though they debuted in January), the increase in new groups became ridiculous and a lot of people have interest. Too many groups with English names that one becoming more common and stupid. This year all I liked was miss A and F.Cuz, maybe if SM and JYP’s predicted boy groups come out this year I’ll like them too. I don’t know what to say about other groups like SISTAR, GP Basic, ZE:A or Nine Muses.
Also, to do with the title track’s, they are either doing well or move onto the follow up track.
Title track songs that I remember doing pretty well in the first 6 months are Lupin, SHOCK and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to be honest.
You’d all probably say:
BONAMANA, Oh!, HuH, Without U, Love Song, I Go Crazy Because of You, 2 Different Tears, Can’t Let You Go Even If I Die, Y, Love Ya, NU ABO and Bingeul Bingeul.
But some follow up songs that I thought were better than the title track was Run Devil Run and Mr Boogie.
You may also think of:
Hip Song, Special, No Other, I Did Wrong, “Mazik,” I My Me Mine, No One, Mworago and I’m Really Hurt.
Secondly, MR and autotune has become a major change in 2010.
I guess 2010 can be seen as the start of the future of technology being used a lot in music so autotune is used everywhere since T-Pain made it really global. Name one group or artist that has NOT used autotune and I will give you a cookie. ^_^
MR (stands for Music Recorded while in MR removed videos, the music and instruments are minimized, resulting in a maximization of the artist vocals.) has become an obsession to netizens as every artist before 2010 has been under their close eye.
Man, I miss the days when they only used the backing track to cover up their terrible singing and autotune wasn’t so futuristic back in 2008.
Questions:
- What do you think of 2010 live performances? Do you feel that has been a great year of performances so far?
- Are they as good as last year’s and stepped up a little? Or do they disappoint you a little?
- What songs do you think were pretty good this year (in the first 6 months people!)?

One group who didn’t use autotone: Code V
to answer your questions:
* What do you think of 2010 live performances? Do you feel that has been a great year of performances so far?
I actually do not watch idol/popular artist performances because the songs are boring and aren’t that much different from one another. They don’t really WOW me thus I can ignore them easier.
* Are they as good as last year’s and stepped up a little? Or do they disappoint you a little?
They disappoint somewhat I guess.
* What songs do you think were pretty good this year (in the first 6 months people!)?
I’ll have to pass on this question.

i have to admit, debuts are pretty excessive this year.
but all in all, some are pretty impressive, others are pretty blahhh.

by the way,
i heard g.na doesnt use auto-tune.
she has amazing vocals already.
“Man, I miss the days when they only used the backing track to cover up their terrible singing”
i agree with the above comment. in fact, autotune is so popular nowadays, i should just sign up and sing to the world. & for your questions, i only started liking kpop this yr ^_^
