But, is it me or whenever most K-Pop artists use English in their lyrics, they always have to shorten the words and they never make sense? I know that alot of K-Pop Artists have had some knowledge in speaking English and knowing it very well, e.g Korean-Americans and some have been taught it in middle/high school, however what bothers me is when it is shortened and no-one can make sense of it?
Some should not use English at all in their lyrics, KARA’s Pretty Girl is a perfect example and also…
Ha Joo Yeon of Jewelry (above) is a great example of sticking to just singing in Korean and not one word of English at all.
Take Jewelry’s Strong Girl for example:
Hey Guy attention baby Strong Girl
Ha Ha so this is I got the change

Hey Guy first now
? – That’s all that is in my head for this cheap, Broken English.
Maybe if it sounded like this as the Translated Proper English:
Hey guy, pay attention! I’m a strong girl, baby. Haha.
So listen to this, I understand what you’re doing.
This is special, you think you’re all that cool?
Hey guy, listen, first verse now.
Take it, want it, let me know it, it could be mine.

Like seriously, why would they (I mean, the company, I highly doubt the artist write the songs) do it to the song? Even if some of them are addicting. Don’t they have the money to have translators help out in their lyrics?
I have a hard time listening to music when it’s like that. I can get over it sometimes, but other times I steer clear of the song. I know a lot of Koreans DON’T know English well so they don’t have an issue with it (because they don’t know it’s wrong), but it just seems so bizarre to just say words… to say words. With Jewelry, for example, do they think the coupling of those almost-random words sound good? It’s so confusing. I wish someone who was in and out of both cultures could explain this concept to me more. I know it’s natural for Koreans to incorporate English in not just songs, but everyday life. I just don’t get THIS type of thing–if it doesn’t make sense to either side, what’s the benefit?
I think most people just add random english lyrics because they don’t know english themselves and just think adding in some random words will make it rhyme and make them have a catchy song

Yeah, this is kinda sad. Especially Baby J of Jewelry. Then again it’s probably, not Baby J’s fault. She doesn’t write the songs (I think). ….well, she can’t pronounce English words either…..-____-
Still, the company could at least take the hint from many that Jewelry is mainly losing their popularity because her rapping is putting off some fans especially me.
Her company should either get her a language teacher to help her pronounce English words properly or stick to making her rap in Korean.

I think that’s how KPOP song is… I also heard a lot of KPOP tunes with an english lyrics on the chorus and some rap parts lolz. But I still do enjoy listening to them ^_^
