YA-KYIM are back!

Nowadays, I’m always a few days late on my J-Pop or J-Urban artists new releases. And I feel bad for it.

My favourite girl group, YA-KYIM pushing aside Morning Musume have released a new album entitled Happy! Enjoy! Fresh The first single from their 4th album is たぶんきっと (Tabun Kitto)/Happy Face.

I don’t really Happy Face much but Tabun Kitto is good but I’m not getting either. The chorus is pretty catchy, I have been waiting for a new album since last year, I am glad they released a new song and album. The album is full of J-Pop up-beat tracks as well as some ballads with some R&B in it. Some of the best tracks of their 4th album, Happy! Enjoy! Fresh! are Afro Samurai, Tippin’ and (to.mo.da.chi) ト・モ・ダ・チ／YA-KYIM respects Spontania.

For all of you who don’t know about YA-KYIM, the group consists of one MC, Miku, and two singers, Alisa and Yurie. At the beginning of their career, YA-KYIM appeared in street fashion popularized by hip hop culture, often performing in music videos with tilted hats and baggy clothing. However, around the time of release of the single “beauty x beauty”, their appearance undertook a drastic change to a more adult, feminine look to coincide with their coming-of-age. Their music also shifted styles, showcasing a more mature sound.

I still miss their hip-hop style but I feel like their songs did get better. Please check out some of the songs for you guys to listen to below, hopefully you will like them and YA-KYIM’s style even though you love only J-Pop or K-Pop.
